On 2 July 2024, Cristoph, Pete Tong and Paul Rogers officially released “Where’s The Music Gone” through Anjunadeep, giving a formal release to a track whose public life began more than a decade earlier. Here, “new” refers to the official edition, not the first appearance of the work.

The track first circulated in 2011 as a free download associated with Pete Tong. That early availability established a public starting point without making it an official release. Cristoph later carried the record through the mid-2010s in his own edit and live-set history, keeping the idea in circulation as a club-facing version rather than a formally issued single. By 2017, the edit had surfaced during an Eric Prydz radio show, marking another stage in the track’s long route from informal availability to an official release.

The Anjunadeep single presents the 2024 version as a modern refresh of a 2010s club record. The updated production combines piano melodies, vocal samples, synth leads and drum beats, placing the track in progressive-house territory. These elements frame the single as an update that retains the record’s earlier lineage while giving it a defined edition and label home.

The collaboration also brings together three distinct roles. Pete Tong is a DJ, producer and radio host; Cristoph is a Newcastle producer linked with Pryda and Defected; and Paul Rogers is an Australian producer, composer and sound designer. Their shared credit matters because the 2024 release is less a first introduction than the point at which a long-circulating track became official.
