Jeffrey Sutorius closed 2021 with a clear bridge into the year ahead: “Sink or Swim,” a collaboration with Mexican duo ANG featuring Sarah De Warren, and the announcement of a new album and world tour for 2022.
Released through Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings, “Sink or Swim” marked Sutorius’s third track on the label. Its musical profile brings together uplifting melodies, energetic beats and deep, angelic vocals, giving the single a vocal-led lift without losing the scale associated with a festival-minded dance record. The release also arrived alongside a headlining appearance at Los Angeles’ Exchange nightclub, placing a new song and a live return in the same December moment.
The larger story, however, was what the single set in motion. Sutorius was preparing a full-length, multi-genre dance album that had been more than a year in the making and was planned for March 2022, with new material involving singer-songwriter Jonathan Mendelsohn and additional tracks intended to offer some surprises. That combination suggested a project built to widen the frame around his signature sound rather than simply repeat it.
The announced 2022 tour was set to begin in January and move through North and South America. Early dates included Dallas on January 13, the Groove Cruise in Orlando from January 20–24, Medellín on February 5, Buenos Aires on February 12, Tempe on February 26, and Miami’s Ultra Music Festival from March 25–27. More dates were still to come.
For Sutorius, who had previously been known as Dash Berlin, the plan made “Sink or Swim” feel like an opening signal: a new collaboration arriving at the end of 2021, with a longer album arc and a return to shared dance floors ahead in 2022.
